A city full of bikes!

For seven consecutive years, Athenians came to Technopolis to express their love for cycling. Cycling fans of all ages started coming to the 7th Athens Bike Festival from Friday evening, the first day, to be greeted by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Athens. The first show of Andrei Burton and Josh Briars, specialists in trial and flatland was enthusiastically applauded and continued to attract the attention of the thousands of visitors throughout the weekend.

The 7th Athens Bike Festival offered cycling fans the opportunity to see many bicycles presented by the largest cycling companies. Some lucky ones participated in specially organized test rides of exceptional bikes like the Bianchi Oltre XR4 and Specialissima or had the chance to test in real time conditions the high tech products of Garmin.

Children had a great time during the festival enjoying cycling in the two tracks set up for them – one for the younger kids and an MTB one for older kids, including adults feeling like kids! Until the last minute, on Sunday, they were begging for one last round…

The slow-cycling game also offered moments of excitement with virtuosos of balance staying on the bikes for endless time hoping to win the big prize, a Dahon bike! The winner stayed on the bike without setting his feet down for over half an hour!!!

The presentations of the National MTB Team and the Team Garmin Greece with top athletes sharing their thoughts and plans also attracted great interest.

The photo exhibitions of W. Roosenboom and J. Calivas, as well as the special artistic approach of the Bikeart team, opened up a different perspective in the world of cycling for many visitors.

Presentations, workshops, a film screening, bike rides like the Skirt Ride and the Solar Ride by Greenpeace completed the schedule of events of this year’s festival.

The 7th Athens Bike Festival is already part of the short history of Athens Bike Festivals and we wish to thank everyone – visitors, friends, collaborators, exhibitors – for three wonderful days  full of bikes!

We look forward to welcoming  you from 15 to 17 September 2017 to celebrate all together the 8th Athens Bike Festival!
